Pokemon Hunting

It hasn’t taken long for my kids to catch onto the newest craze – Pokemon Go. We have become those people that I laughed at; heading out into the night, to find pocket monsters. Last week, on one of their first times hunting, we went out during the day. Alayna had just received her mermaid tail in the mail so we went out, fin and all.

A lot of people don’t understand the craze and I can’t say I do either but I am happy to spend the extra time with the kids.

Camping on July 4th

Last year our July 4th plans got squashed by my husband having to work extra so we were determined to get family time in this year. Our neighbors have a camper out at a local campgrounds and were gracious enough to invite us out for a day long camping adventure.

If you have small kids you know how important it is to keep plans under wraps and unfortunately this trip was not kept a secret so we had to listen to “is it almost Saturday yet,” all week long. By Saturday my sanity was gone! Thank goodness for lots of things to do at the campgrounds so I could get a little mental R&R.

The day was just about as perfect as weather as you can get. Ohio has been on the cool and rainy side this year but Saturday was warm with lots of sunshine. I tell myself I really shouldn’t be living in Ohio because I loathe anytime I have to sweat..any sort of humidity. So while Chad was complaining of not enough sun, I thought it was perfect!

We ended the night with fishing followed by lots of sparklers and s’mores! But honestly the best part was just having Chad there with us.

The fishing here is super easy. The pond is stocked with lots of blue gill which makes for a fun time fishing for small kids.

Alayna was brave enough to touch the fish being caught and helping to throw them back in.

The smoke from all the campfires reminded me of fog rolling in. I snapped some pictures with my digital camera but what I am really excited about is seeing my film pictures.

6 Month Baby Zoey

I am always so thrilled to see this little sweet pea for her shoots! She is usually just the happiest little girl and so easy to work with. This day was no different! We had hoped for sunny weather but with Ohio that is never a guarantee! There was some rain moving into the area but after talking back and forth we decided to make a go for it! With both of our schedules we had to shoot in the early afternoon, which as every photographer would know is not optimal shoot time. I would lie to say that I wasn’t a little hesitant! The best part with rain in the area was that there was an overcast which acts as a large white reflector! It also allows for some more moody shots which coupled with black & white finishes, leave me smitten! Zoey was such a trooper and I think could do wonderful in the pouring rain. Of course on this fine Ohio day she was all smiles, drool, and lots of love of momma!

Ellary + Austin

These two people are pretty close to my heart and it makes me so happy to see them in such an amazing time in their lives. When you are with them, you can really tell how much they care for each other and that is something refreshing to see. We had lots of pop up storms the day we did their session but even without the sun, we still had amazing shots.

Craun Family | Gold Hope Project | Family | Lima, Columbus, and Dayton Photographer

This session is pretty special. It brings so many things full circle in life on many levels. When starting my photography career I can’t say that I had many goals or wants from my business. Obviously we all want to be successful; we want to get awards and recognition. I was about a year into my business when I saw that The Gold Hope project was looking for photographers. You had to apply to be let in and they only accepted so many. I went ahead and put my name in as my uncle had passed away from cancer and I knew how important these images would be for families. Much to my surprise I was accepted. My name sat on their list, not needed thankfully until this fall. Again here comes in another part of how things align. I promise, stick with me here. I went to high school with a girl that has a little boy about the age of my middle child. Cainan fell sick last winter and after a fever that wouldn’t break they got the news that he was fighting ALL. He is such a strong little guy and their whole story really hit close to home to me. I know we should be grateful for our kids and their health but Cainan’s battle could easily be our family’s battle. Pat and Gina have shown me what a strong couple does to pull through times like these. Their family and close friends have proved the love of God. I often have thought I could only pray I would be this strong. That God would pull me up as he has for them. I do believe that we are placed in particular situations to take us further in life and to enhance our appreciation. And as I said at the beginning of this post, this session is pretty special and now I hope you can see why.

xoxo
